That’s right! Israel, I am not sure what I think about you. But here is some of my thoughts after visiting.
At the immigration boarder to Israel, walking by foot from Jordan. Met by two suspicious officers that were asking many questions. Demanding much money. But after some time, the serious immigration officers let us entry to the country.
Elat, a developed city. You find big shopping malls, with prices like back home in Norway. You can spend you day in a big beautiful park of aquariums. Elat, is a clean and organized city. However, with a cold atmosphere.
As weird as it sounds, I preferred the more chaotic, dirty, poor, but warm Áqaba, in Jordan. I just felt more welcomed and home there. It was easier to get in touch with the locals.
Obviously, the conflict with Palestine also affect my perception of Israel. So do the way they treat Jordan. Though we still, cannot forget the Jewish past.
Despite all of this, I still would like to go back to Israel. To see and get to know the country better. Because Israel, I do not know how I feel about you, yet!
What do you think about Israel?
