I guess all of you have heard the horrible news about the earthquake in Nepal. Thousands of lives were lost and over hundred thousand people lost their homes and everything they had. Just like my dear friend Suman and his family.
When I first heard about this devastating natural catastrophe, I was thinking about my dear friend and really kind person Suman and his family that is from Nepal. When I wrote to him, I was relieved to hear that his family was fine. But sad to hear that they lost their house and everything they had in the earthquake.
I got to see pictures of his house after the earthquake, in ruins. A house I was supposed to live in when I was going to Nepal. Because this is a family that is very welcoming, despite having little. They invited me to stay with them when I was thinking about going to Nepal, after my internship in India. As I did not have so much money, and the flight ticket home from Nepal was much more expensive than from India, and I just had a one time entry visa to India, unfortunately I had to postpone that trip.
Now the family live in tent, as they have nowhere else to go. They wish to build up their house again, but this is not easy due to financial reasons.
Whenever I meet Suman he is very giving, if we go to a restaurant he insist to pay for me and invite me the food. He have done the best to help me in any situation where I have asked for advices. I believe when people are that giving and kind they will always get back kindness from others as well. And that is what I hope he will get now.
Suman says that 80-90 % in his village named Shikharpur-3 lost their homes. They have not gotten any help from the government nor NGOs as the help have not reached there, due to that the village is located in rural Nepal where it is hard to arrive with help. People are without water, and food. And injured and sick are without medicines. Suman really would like to help his village that is in big need, and have therefore started a fundraiser.
So please let us all help these victims, like Suman and his family to restore their life. If you have a dollar to spare, please give it. Every dollar is of great help, and highly appreciated. I do not have much myself these days, but have done what I can to help as well with a small donation. If you would like to help, you can donated at his fundraiser here. Thanks to everyone that do!
