Do you have problems sleeping well the night before a big trip? I have.
I am thinking things like: Did I pack everything? Did I forget something?
But maybe even worse, I am checking the clock on the mobile phone all the time. Thinking: what if the alarm does not go off. For sleep better I often put more than one alarm. Just in case!
I am not alone to have problems sleeping well the night before a trip. Most people I have talked to have the same problem. And you can see on discussion forums on the internet that many people have the same issue.
But why is it like this?
According to clinical psychologist Steve Orma “Anxiety is an emotion that actually wakes us up.” Furthermore he states that “there are all kinds of physical changes happening that ramp you up, which is the exact opposite state of what you need to be in when you are trying to fall asleep.”
When investing a lot of money in a trip that you have looked forward to it for a long time. It would be really sad to miss it. Just because the alarm did not sound, and being worried about this can cause anxiety.
Experts says the best way to deal with this is to control you thoughts and try your best not think about it.
Well, I am soon leaving for my next big trip, and my flight is leavning very early in the morning. This time I will do my best to not think about my alarm, as the chance of it not ringing in the morning is close to zero…
